The 2026 edition of The Catapult Papers Schools Series represents a recalibration of the entire collection. Based on feedback from schools, parents, and recent SEAG papers (2023–2025), every test has been reviewed with fresh eyes — questions have been refined, balance has been reassessed, and the structure has been tightened.

The result: a smoother, more consistent journey from early P6-level practice to final P7 readiness — better reflecting the actual progression pupils experience in class and exam preparation.

The difficulty level of the series has now been brought closer into alignment with that of the official SEAG sample papers, while retaining Catapult’s original goal of producing challenging questions – so that your students are not caught off-guard when November comes around.

These 40 full test papers, set out according to the exact format of the official SEAG exams, are available (in PDF) with a one-year licence to NI schools.

As of November 2025, the schools series of The Catapult Papers has been licensed to the following schools in Northern Ireland:

the mirror test approach

The Catapult Papers Schools Series uses a unique ‘mirror test’ approach.

There are 40 test papers in total. But rather than being numbered from Tests 1 to 40, they are numbered 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b… all the way to 20a and 20b.

Each ‘a’ test is a step-up in level from the previous test, bringing in new English and Maths themes at a slightly more challenging level. Each ‘b’ test is a reflection of the questions that appeared in the preceding ‘a’ test. For example, question 29 in Test 8a relates to decimal numbers - so does question 29 in Test 8b; the comprehension passage in Test 13a is a new piece of fiction writing (written by Catapult) - so is the comprehension in Test 13b.

Why this approach? To help teachers determine if students are learning from their mistakes and – more importantly – to give students a second chance to prove they have learned from their mistakes.

enquire/purchase

As these tests are not available for public purchase, I will not be displaying them in the online Catapult store. Should you wish to sample the appearance and layout of The Catapult Papers, there are two free sample papers, one as a lead-in to the main public series of 20 tests, and one as a lead-in to the P6 Warm-Up series. Here are the links:

I will initially send two sample papers from the series without the licence footnote, so that you can decide if you are happy to make the purchase.
